Break Bulk & Projects

Break Bulk & Project Shipments

Oversized, heavy and out-of-gauge cargo that won't fit in a container — moved with the planning, equipment and permits the job actually needs.

Some cargo simply does not fit in a container. Break bulk and project shipments — heavy machinery, structural steel, wind components, oil & gas modules, vehicles, generators, transformers — need dedicated planning, the right equipment, and a team that has done this kind of move before. That is what we do.

What counts as project cargo

Break bulk covers cargo that is loaded individually rather than in containers — typically because it is too large, too heavy or shaped wrong for containerisation. Project cargo usually means a one-off shipment that needs custom engineering: oversized or out-of-gauge (OOG) units, abnormal loads, modules destined for a single industrial project. Both demand specialist handling at origin, on the vessel or trailer, and on arrival.

How we plan a project move

From quote to on-site delivery

  • Feasibility study — route survey, bridge clearances, permits, equipment availability
  • Method statement and lifting plan, signed off by our project engineers
  • Sourcing the right equipment — low-loaders, hydraulic axle trailers, mobile cranes, RoRo vessels, heavy-lift ships
  • Permit acquisition for ODC (Over-Dimensional Cargo) and abnormal loads
  • Police / escort coordination where the route requires it
  • On-site lashing, securing and offloading by our supervised team

The kinds of cargo we move

Recent project work across the GCC includes prefabricated steel structures, oil & gas process modules, transformers and generators, construction machinery, plant equipment, boats and yachts, and military and government cargo. Whether it is one piece or a multi-month construction project requiring dozens of staggered deliveries, we plan it as one coordinated move.

Why specialist project capability matters

A standard freight forwarder can usually book a container. Project cargo is a different discipline — get the route survey wrong and the cargo cannot reach the destination, get the lifting plan wrong and it is dangerous, get the permits wrong and the load sits at the border. Our project team has decades of experience with the specific challenges of OOG and heavy-lift cargo through the UAE, the wider GCC and into India. Get in touch with your project details and we will respond with a structured proposal — equipment, route, timeline, cost.
